Hahaha, most of us change our routines during summer, winter, vacations, and holidays. The same happens with the children. Some of us sleep a lot, others eat a lot, go to bed late, or drown in tv shows or Netflix. If you are like me, I tend to overeat during holidays and in the summer, and when you get on the scale, you want to scream and cry. After all the relaxation, it is tough to go back to healthy habits and get back into a routine. The same thing happens for students, teachers, and parents when it comes to back-to-school routines.
How Do Students, Teachers, and Parents Mentally Prepare For Going Back to School
Returning after summer can be very stressful, especially after a pandemic year. We work long hours without stopping, and students give their maximum in technological skills, new routines at home, and new teaching methods. The truth is that human beings can adapt, but we need to make some adjustments to our lives. It is for this reason that we have prepared some tips for you.
Tip # 1 How to start conversations to prepare for the start of school?
Let’s start by establishing a conversation about what will happen, how many days, and the exact date of the beginning of class. Speak naturally and ask questions about the subject. You can count down or remember the start date of classes. Make a plan of everything you want to do before school starts and a list of the things you need to get back to school, which brings us to tip # 2.
Tip # 2 Choose a day to buy the things you need.
In the previous tip, we talked about making a list of the things you need. Call the school and request the list of the items that your children’s teachers reaver. Think about the colors you like or a theme to have a clearer idea of what you want to buy. If you are a teacher, make an inventory or list of the things you already have and visualize what you would like to have added. It would help if you also thought about the colors or the motifs and decoration of your living room. Try to mark the items you already have and mark the ones you still need to buy.
Tip # 3 Start going back to a regular sleep pattern.
Find a way to return to the old habits of going to bed when you vied to or at a reasonable time. What time should children go to bed? What time should adults go to bed? The goal of getting up is to be on time, rested, and ready to learn or go to work. A tired body is a stressed body, which has trouble walking, thinking, and moving. It is an uncomfortable and angry body. The body must rest at least 8 hours.
Tip # 4 Wake up early in the morning with a purpose.
Find a way to get up early before the family and make everyone up. Practice grooming, brushing teeth, eating breakfast, and packing up all the things you need, whether it’s going for a walk, biking, going to the pool, walking, etc. Announce to everyone the departure time and where you will meet them, either in the car in the garage or at the front door.
Tip # 5 Fix the clothes you are going to wear the day before and the items you need
Organize the clothes they will wear for the week, or you can do it day by day, facilitating the morning preparation process. If you are fixing the children’s clothes, they must be part of the selection process. We want to create structured children with a voice, who develop their personality, but at the same time know that there has to be approval from an adult.
Tip # 6 Establish Routines, Eating Habits, Meal preps or budget
Begin to establish routines and mealtimes, such as when they go to school and what they will have for breakfast. You can also cook again as you did before; prepare food or menus for the week; it is not wrong to eat light meals for lunch, such as a peanut butter sandwich or some chicken nuggets.
Tip # 7 Items ready near the exit door
It is very stressful not to find any item you need before going out, and it can cause frustration, anger, fights, and much more. Designate an area in the home to drop off items to take away before leaving home. This way, the things are in one place and ready to go, stress-free.
